Project: Dubai Grand Polo Club & Resort

Location: Dubai, UAE

Status: Project

Partners: Juan Ignacio Ramos & Ignacio Ramos

The Stables at the Dubai Grand Polo Club & Resort are conceived as a central part of a larger vision—one that honors the deep equestrian roots of Emirati culture while offering world-class facilities for riders and horses alike. Located at the heart of the resort’s residential area, the Stables are positioned within the proposed Green Core of the Equestrian Center, blending architecture and landscape in a way that enhances both the function and atmosphere of the surrounding environment.

The design draws from the symbolic importance of the horse in Emirati life, representing strength, nobility, and tradition. This understanding informs every element of the project, from the organic architectural form to the emphasis on comfort, care, and the experience of those who use the space—whether professionals, families, or beginners. Inspired by traditional Emirati elements such as courtyards and water features, the project incorporates natural cooling, shaded gathering areas, and a central landscaped courtyard that becomes a hidden focal point upon entry. This space includes shaded zones for horses and caretakers, a rehabilitation swimming pool, and flowing water features that contribute to a tranquil and functional setting.

The architectural language is defined by a soft, spiraling form that folds into the landscape through lawn berms and gentle elevation changes. These topographical elements not only integrate the Stables naturally into the terrain but also provide premium visual access for surrounding residences. The interior is climate-controlled and designed to support daily operations with efficiency and care, connecting the stalls to spaces such as tack rooms, feed storage, and a fully equipped veterinary clinic.

Throughout the Stables, internal and external circulation paths ensure ease of movement for both horses and people. Social areas like the tack room lounge offer members comfortable spaces to enjoy views of three surrounding polo fields and engage with the life of the equestrian center. With five access points leading to polo fields, paddocks, training tracks, jumping arenas, and parking, the layout supports both daily use and major events.

Guided by references from traditional architecture—such as Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, Fujairah Fort, and Qasr Al Hosn—the design reflects a contemporary interpretation of Dubai’s heritage. The result is a place that brings together functionality, beauty, and cultural awareness, creating a setting where people and horses are equally at ease.
